Colton this is a 12 volt transmitter and you may have to use 1.5 volt alkaline AA size battery to get 12V As NiCd. only have 1.2 volt. May cost a lot more in the long run.

thanks for the advice tommy. I wound up finding a good deal on this one (FLYSKY RC FS-T6 2.4ghz AFHDS Mode 2 6ch Transmitter + Receiver helicopter plane) and will use my rechargeable AA batteries for it rather than a NiCd pack

Colton all Nicd batteri8es only hold 1.2V I think. So no matter which type or name you buy you still only have 1.2V. Ask someone or read the voltage printed on the battery. The best to you and your relatives in this years challenges Happy New Year!
