Well I finally did it. After days of work, bad measurements and little time to work on it. I have finished building my spad! only issue is with it being home made is that I don't have a CG reference line and don't know how to balance it properly. If anyone knows how to balance a spad let me know because I don't have a clue just where the CG on it is. Also i have included a picture so tell me what you think Attachments:

Balance it somewhere between 25% and 30% of the wing cord (distance from leading edge to trailing edge of the aileron) i.e. if the cord is 10 inches you want it to balance between 2.5” and 3” back from the leading edge.

well I test flew it today before the wind picked up and it work great to 1 aspect; that being that it flew perfectly level on launch... but it was full throttle and still hit the ground before I could get any lift on it at all what so ever. I don't know if it's that it took me too long to get to the stick or if it was too heavy or so on.. any ideas?? its fixed now and ready to go but first I need to know what the issue is.. if it helps Im only using a .25 engine which I thought was plenty but if theres a chance it may be too small then I might have to wait till next year

It is quite short coupled, my first guess would be you need more elevator but I did not see how fast it flew or how fast it dropped. You need to go out with another Spadder Mario or Bernd would be a couple good choices. Al.

After I fixed the damages at home and inspected everything I discovered that I am an idiot. I know this because though I range checked it and made sure all control surface work I had missed the simple fact that the elevator servo was hooked up backwards.. on first launch it went perfect level and had no issues but when i went to pull back to climb the elevator went down and that would be why I crashed.. the only concern I have now is that its slow and I need to make it faster; so I am gonna make it as light as I can . now I know to check more thoroughly lol
