Sig kits wood

I am building another kit from Sig and the fuse is cut out by laser instead of a router. much better fitting. But some of the balsa is still very brittle and breaks and tears badly. Not as good quality as the previse owners used, but they changed suppliers when they started. This is the third or fourth plane I've built since the new owners took charge and it is still the same. Does anyone else notice this?

my sig kit is all laser cut wood too and im finding that the balsa is quite brittle too/I believe mine is a newer kit and I don't have an older one to compare to though
