This depends on many things, the plane you're flying(size and type), wind direction, how gusty, and of course, your skill level. Personally I like a steady breeze, 5 to 10 km, that is aligned with a runway, it helps me get my contact speed down Al

For my 50 size helis, up to 25kmh is OK. You definately have to pay attention then Gregg

Last night I found my limit for my electric Helli, I'm not sure but would guess it was about 35kph at times from the South South East and gusty. It was 3 minutes of intense hovering. Got her up and down without incident but I decided I could wait for a calmer day... Now I know my limit , Al.

Once the little electric Piper quit flipping over it was kinda fun. I guess it also depends on the investment your going to send up!
