Al, you beat me to it. I've been looking at the same airframe for some time now. I Just never hit the buy it now key. I've spent hours researching power systems for this bird. So if you need any info on motor, esc, prop selection, etc., let me know, and I'd be more than happy to lend a hand.
BTW, your going to need ALL the runway for this one!!

I am planning on a couple 60 size electrics with 6S batteries. Should be plenty of power to get it off the ground before the end of the runway... landings I understand will be a different story, especially if it comes out a bit heavier!
I was also thinking I may have to go with 3 blade props to gain some extra ground clearance.
Were you planning on 40 size electric motors with 4S?
Al.

I doubt it, I just finished the SU-34. It is ready to fly now that winter is back... There is not much time until the mall show and I have some travel to do between now and then... I also expect I will need to order some 3 bladed spinners once I decide on the exact power system, which will take some time.

Were you planning on 40 size electric motors with 4S? Al. I was going to use either the Scorpion S-4020-8, or Reaper GR-60 motors. I have the Reaper on my current plane. It puts out over 1000 watts on 4s @ 76 amps on a static wot test. I figured 2000+ watts on a 18 pound plane is plenty. Your still at 110 watts/lb which should motivate it nicely, while at the same time keeping auw minimal.
